Introduction
Wild ARMS: Twilight Venom is based on
a series of games for PlayStation and PlayStation 2, although it doesn't
seem to strictly follow the continuity of any of them.
In this reality, a meteor crashed into the peaceful world of Filgaia (Fargaia,
Falgaia, Falgaiya)
approximately three years ago, disrupting the balance of nature, turning
most of the planet into a wasteland, making the monsters more
aggressive, and
"reviving the demons"; and the sentient species--the humans,
Guardians (gods), Noble Reds/Crimson Nobles (demi-vampires) and Popepi Pipepo (Wind
Rats)--are coping as best they can, using every talent they have in the
struggle to survive. Brave souls who venture out into the
wastelands are called Dream Chasers (WA1), Mercs (WA2) or Drifters (WA3).
A very few humans have the inborn ability to use ARMS, guns of incredible
power. Ordinary folk have to content themselves with normal guns or
hand weapons. Filgaia is
home to several Crest Sorceresses--women with the skill and dedication
to practice magic, pairing elemental cards (that sort of look like
playing cards) to cast their spells. The cards are somewhat rare
and consumed in the casting.
The Noble Reds, unlike true vampires, are mortal. They are born and
age, can survive on normal food and drink (if they have to), and are
unaffected by sunlight. They can transform into a "fat
bat" at will and can hypnotize others.
The Popepi Pipepo tend to be intelligent and talkative. They are
the longest-lived race (with the possible exception of the
Guardians). They are very interested
in making money (gella or gala), though no one knows what they
spend it on. It's not unusual for a Popepi Pipepo to team up with
someone from one of the larger races, especially now that Filgaia is
swarming with monsters. The ones in the games could fly short
distances.
The Guardians haven't been mentioned much in this series so far, though Lucied (Luceid), Guardian of Desire, makes
a guest appearance at some point. Other cameos of note include Zed
(a Metal-Demon from the first game), Irving and Judecca (both from Wild
Arms Second Ignition). All three games also mention another race,
the Elws, who are much like the peaceful "ancients" in quite a
few games and anime.
