PhotoHunt 83: Flexible

The latest PhotoHunt category from tnchick.com is “Flexible” which can be interpreted as one sees fit. This is a photo I took last month of a parsley plant I had in my yard that became infested with parsley caterpillars which we hoped would turn into butterflies but unfortunately each and every one of them got eaten by birds. Oh well. It was a surprise for my wife and I. We didn’t know parsley plants attracted these type of critters but next year we’ll get more parsley plants and when the caterpillars show up, we’ll set up barriers to protect them from hungry birds and maybe we’ll actually get some butterflies out of the deal. Both the caterpillars and the parsley plants qualify as flexible.

That’s a great picture! This was my first photo hunt, come check it out if you get a chance. It’s quite a way down the page now, but it’s still there. :)

That is a beautiful picture and the colors are so vivid! I love caterpillars, but I haven’t actually had one and watched one go through it’s change for several years. That is something I look forward to doing with my kids when they are a little older.

Very nice.
I’ve always liked caterpillars. I have no idea why. Most bugs creep me out.

I haven’t gotten my post up yet, kinda stumped trying to think “outside of the box”. We got a lot of these parsley worms one year and put them in jars with parsley and some grass too. They all but one (died) turned into beautiful swallowtail butterflies. They are the black ones with bright blue.
