PhotoHunt 100: Different

The latest PhotoHunt category from tnchick.com is “Different” which can be interpreted as one sees fit. This is tnchick’s 100th PhotoHunt. I look forward to see how others interpret this one. I could have gone several different ways with this but I chose to show two examples of things done a little different than the norm.

The home above is one of many along U.S. Highway 98 in the Florida Panhandle. The house itself isn’t what’s different, but what’s in the front yard.

That’s not a closeup of a baseball someone left lying around but a 5-foot tall baseball with the name of the house — “Ray’s Bay’s Ball.” It’s not unusual for people to name their houses along the beaches and bayfronts. Many times it’s a clever play on works (”Porpoise In Mind”). Sometimes a reference to a Jimmy Buffett tune (”Changes In Latitudes”). Usually it has a nautical or beach connection of some sort. Whomever owns this bayfront home decided to go a different way.
On the south side of Tallahassee is a locally owned business called “The Wilderness Way.” Now when I think of the wilderness, I can’t help but picturing…

…a purple gorilla holding a kayak?!? Okay, that’s definitely different. AND eye-catching. Which achieves the purpose of getting noticed. Looks like an offspring of “Grape Ape”, a cartoon character from the mid to late 1970’s.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to my humble blog. I also hope you’ll leave a comment on this post and maybe take a look around the blog in general.

That property is gorgeous. It’s hard to find nice lake front property for a reasonable price anymore.
