HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Many years ago in a quiet little blues village called Clarksdale in the land of Mississippi, a child was born on this day that Thomas and Cecelia named Carl.

They raised that boy although he gave them ample reason to leave him beside the roadway in the deep dark forest over the years.

Yup…that was me and today is my birthday. And although I won’t say how old I am45, I will say that45 I am somewhere in45 between 21 and 101.

If you are considering sending me a present, I wouldn’t mind a Langcaster electric guitar. Or how about a complete set of the Expositor’s Bible Commentary and the New International Commentary On The New Testament? Or perhaps a complete makeover for my front and back yards?

What? Can’t get any of those? Oh well, a hearty “Happy Birthday” will be just fine.

I don’t plan on doing anything special today to celebrate. I can’t have a birthday cake anymore (too much sugar causes something called “dumping syndrome” which is an after effect of gastric bypass surgery) and I can’t afford a weekend vacation anywhere. So it’ll be just another Monday at work. Same old, same old.

Wait…maybe I shouldn’t have said old.

Close to a trillion dollars of aid has been given and sent to Africa in the last few decades alone.

RIP Tony Snow - And here comes the scum at Westboro Baptist…

This is terrible.  First we lost Tim Russert, and now Tony Snow.  Both brilliant political commentators, and both far too young.

Two great political minds and voices in a year where the presidential race promises to take on historic prop…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I know some cool ways to celebrate without money. You can take out that tent, come on–you know you have one or you can make one, and go into the backyard. Or the front, whichever you prefer. Wait until it is almost dark, though. Then you can spooky ghost stories! (Do not worry. You all get to go back into the house after an hour or so. lol)

You could also try having those roasted marshmallows (can you have them?) by using the indoor stove. Or you can get something that will create a new tradition for your family, maybe some green beans? (j/k) Pretzels? No. Starch. Popcorn? No. Salt. Hmm. I’ve got it! Make Ice Tea Cubes (unsweetened with sugar)! Then you can have them like popsicles! ;)
