Somehow
Our Heroes have escaped from Alcatraz (no clue HOW) and resumed their
normal lives. For the girls, this means trying to charm Mr
Petoroni (Petroni) out of his ARMS collection, which they've read about
in a treasure magazine. Roleta intends to use her wiles on him.
For Sheyenne and Kiel, getting back to normal means
trying to find Sheyenne's original body. They board a train for
Paskiarka (Cascade), where Sheyenne was shot and presumably killed three
years ago. Sometime between then and now the "Twilight
Venom" disaster struck Filgaia. Sheyenne is initially
skeptical until an old woman on the train confirms the story.
Sheyenne flashbacks to his "death," and we get a glimpse of
what he was like three years ago. He was a cocky and brash
gunfighter with the typical youthful feeling of invulnerability.
He awakes in an inn next to a girl (of course), then goes out to meet
his challenger. He's not wearing a shirt--maybe to prove he's not
wearing armor, maybe to show off his unusual moon-shaped
birthmark. He wins the gunfight in three seconds flat, only to be
gunned down by a sniper.
Back in the present, Kiel and Sheyenne visit the "Thieves'
Bazaar," where they hope to find Sheyenne's body, or at least
someone who might know where it is. A girl bumps into Sheyenne and
knocks him down, and instead of being attracted to him after his smooth
apology, tells him what a good little boy he is to help Daddy with
the shopping. Frustrated beyond measure, Sheyenne fires his ARM
(straight up, fortunately), a spectacular display that catches
everyone's attention, including that of a blue Popepi Pipepo caged in a
nearby shop, who remarks that he hasn't seen an ARM used in at
least a hundred years.
The Popepi Pipepo lures Kiel and Sheyenne over to the shop and tries to
persuade them to buy him for only 20,000 gella, a special
discount. Normally he'd cost a million gella because he's very
special. His race is very rare. Sheyenne protests, saying he
saw a Popepi Pipepo just last week. Kiel confirms this but adds
that THAT one was a female. Thrilled to hear there's a female of
his own kind in the vicinity, the Pipepi Popepo demands to know where
she is, but our heroes don't know. He then picks Kiel's pocket for
20,000 gella and gives them to the shop's cashier, Abraham, announcing
that the shop belongs to Abraham now. It turns out that the Popepi
Pipepo is the real shop owner. He's been running a scam (and can
clearly slip out of the cage whenever he likes). Abraham is very
grateful and promises to work hard. The Popepi Pipepo is now part
of Sheyenne's party, and they head for an inn, where Sheyenne collapses
into an exhausted sleep while the other two talk about him. We
learn two important things from them: that ARMS draw their power
from the wielder's life-force and that Adult Sheyenne's birthmark was
just like one that "Kianu," "king of the Evil Race,"
had. This makes some people believe that Adult Sheyenne was
"a reincarnation of the Evil Race" because of the birthmark.
The next morning the guys go to a weapons shop, where Kiel buys his
trademark vambrace. Sheyenne isn't looking for a weapon, of
course, since he already has his ARM. We find out his ARM's name
is Batour (Badouru, sometimes translated in fansubs as "Wolfeye").
Meanwhile, back at Petoroni's ARMS collection, Roleta is failing
miserably to seduce him. (Maybe she should leave Mirabelle and
Jerusha at home next time). Jerusha discovers that his ARMS are
all fakes, and Roleta is outraged. At first she wants to scold
him, then changes her mind when she overhears him on the phone
offering to pay any price for the ARM that belongs to that kid traveling
with Kiel Aronnax.
Roleta and company depart immediately for the inn where Kiel and
Sheyenne are staying, where they invite the guys to party. We
learn two important things about the two Popepi Pipepo: they used
to be married, and the male's name is Isaac. His pet peeve is
being called "Isaku," which of course Jerusha does
constantly. Isaac is INCREDIBLY disappointed to find out that the
female he's been chasing is his ex. (It must've been a bitter
divorce). (You might've caught his name in the shop, but only if
you were paying close attention). Mirabelle tells Sheyenne he can't have any champagne
'cause he's just a kid, and Roleta miffs both of them by having them
drink fruit juice instead. Evidently Mirabelle isn't drinking age,
either. (All together now: She never drinks...wine).
The next morning the guys awake to find the girls gone, the room
trashed, and Batour missing. Sheyenne is frantic! Mr
Petoroni barges in, equally frantic. He's been trying to fire the
ARM but hasn't been able to. He begs Sheyenne to teach him how to
use it and protests he didn't steal it, he bought it from Roleta for a
million gella! After Sheyenne explains that only certain people
can use ARMS, Mr. Petoroni asks him to shoot "near" him so he
can feel the ARM's power. Sheyenne bashes him in the head with
Batour, and the episode closes with the girls in a wagon full of money. |

I'm
glad I wasn't the editor on this one...13 cutscenes in 19 minutes seems
a bit excessive!
Sheyenne
doesn't seem to be considering that if no one took measures to PRESERVE
his original body, it may not be in any condition for him to WANT it
back!
I can't hear about the "Demon King Kianu" without picturing
Keanu Reeves in full "Bill and Ted" mode, "I'm, like,
s'pos'ta be EVIL, dude!" (head tilt left, head tilt right).
If Paskiarka is Sheyenne's hometown, what is he doing staying at the
inn? (Maybe it's the girl's room?)
