25 Christmas CD’s in 25 Days - Day 8

Brad Paisely - Christmas
(2006 Sony-BMG/Arista Records)

Brad Paisley brings forth one of the more delightful new Christmas releases of 2006 with “Christmas.” A collection of covers as well as original material, Paisley runs the gamut of the silly with the sublime. “364 Days To Go” is a sentimental Christmas ballad of the perfect imperfect Christmas we all experience with longing for what the next Christmas day will bring 364 days down the road. I particularly love the skewering of the politically-correctness of Christmas currently ongoing with “Kung Pao Buckaroo Holiday” (featuring the Kung Pao Buckaroos: “Little” Jimmy Dickens, George Jones and Bill Anderson). And Paisley nails it in his cover of Buck Owens’ “Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy.” Another fun song is about Santa Claus’ own Christmas secret agent bird “Penguin, James Penguin.” I’d love to see an animated (or semi-animated) video of that song. I really like Paisley’s contribution to the Christmas season and recommend it greatly.

    It’s Friday again…..and Madame X?

I could not resist that! I thought it was rather cute and funny in a skewed sort of vein.

And it’s that time of the week again for you to showcase your best. Just bring it on over for the rest of us to enjoy. You all know the dance!
