Snow v. Gregory

Tony Snow & NBC's David Gregory

It’s nice to see the Tony Snow take David Gregory down a peg or two when Gregory tries to bum rush him.

Gregory: I just want to be clear. Are you suggesting that I’m trying to frame this in a partisan way?

Snow: Yes.

Rather than ask the tough questions and allow the White House representative answer before offering a followup question (which is the way it normally happens), Gregory chooses to continually interrupt and phrase the questions in a “when did you stop beating your wife” manner. Thusly he makes himself the center of the event as he is wont to do rather than report upon the event. Gregory has begun crossing the line of reporting the news into becoming the news, albeit in a minor way. This is something true journalists do not do as a point of ethics, but today’s mainstream big media have tossed journalistic ethics right out the window. Gregory is just another example.
