25 Christmas CD’s in 25 Days – Day 17

The one song I will always associate with The Kingston Trio is “The Tattooed Lady.” When I was a little kid, it was one of my favorite songs on the vinyl albums my Momma had that she would allow me to play. “The Last Month Of The Year” is a digitally remastered re-release of the 1960 lp the group released. Most of the songs on the album are not well known today but are quite beautiful. For example, “The White Snows Of Winter” was adapted from Brahm’s First Symphony, arranged by Trio member Bob Shane in collaboration with Tom Drake and its musical setting is evocative of the lover’s plight and resolution with the arrival of Christmas. They do a wonderful rendition of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” in the recognizable Kingston Trio style. This is one of the more unique Christmas CDs in my collection and a must-have for folk music fans.
