Alright, the doggoned POTUS debate at Ole Miss is over and I couldn’t care less. Now we gotta endure the seemingly endless analyses from every political pundit whether real or imagined. I can’t imagine how lame some of the people they’re gonna trot out to regale us and bore us with their refuse opinions about the debates. Let me make my position absolutely clear: I could NOT care less. There. Proper form of the phrase as well (as opposed to “I could care less” which is improper wording). For one of the few times in my job, I was tickled pink that I work the night shift and wasn’t exposed to the debate. I find them boring, useless and frankly a waste of air time. They don’t reveal anything we already don’t know by this time and usually benefits mostly the media which uses the opportunity to waste time over anal-lyzing what was said, what was not said and what should have been said well past the point of nausea. The media would rather anal-lyze post debate than report hard news. So much for journalism which was taken off life-support and died in the summer of 2008. Mark your calendars, folks. It was an historic event. Now the mainstream liberal corporate media has collectively come out of the political closet to become propaganda tools of the Democratic party. Can’t be denied any longer.
Thus endeth the rant. And thus endeth any possibility of future posts concerning this McCain-Obama joint press conference…er…debate and any future debate between POTUS and Vice-POTUS candidates.

This blog just celebrated it’s 4th birthday a few days ago and today it received visitor number 75,000! That visitor was from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thanks to that unknown visitor. Only 25K more to the 100,000 mark.

The latest PhotoHunt category from tnchick.com is “Road” which can be interpreted as one sees fit. It’s been a long time since I had the time to participate in a Photohunt so I’ve decided to offer up multiple photos for this week’s category.
Back in 1995, we had some horrendous spring rains causing major flooding. This caused my normal route to work to be disrupted because some of the road was closed due to flooding so I had to detour through some rural roads in south Georgia to get to my job in rural north Florida. I passed a lot of interesting things and on a weekend I decided to go rambling and take pictures. This photo from the top of a hill on a rural road just was interesting to me.
This photo is from J Lee Vause Park which is near where I live. It’s a nice little city park which is actually a tad outside of the city limits, but who’s paying attention to details? It’s a little one-way loop in and out of the park that is nice and quiet.
This is a picture of the roadway at the edge of the old, original Victory Bridge in Chattahoochee, Florida. It was part of the old U.S. Highway 90 and the bridge’s construction began in 1919 and was dedicated for use in 1922. I have more pictures and more detailed information on it at my little online photo album. Incidentally, the road and what remains of the bridge has not been used for automobile traffic for several decades. Two other bridges also known as the Victory Bridge were subsequently built with the third one being currently used (there is nothing remaining of the second bridge). The abandoned roadway and bridge segments from the original Victory Bridge are much narrower than modern paved roadways.

*SIGH* Deja vu. First I witness Mississippi State stinking up the place and this evening I witness Florida State stink up the place as well. Three words: turnovers and penalties. That’s what really killed any chances of FSU winning the game. 7 turnovers and 12 penalties for 139 years. Good grief. They handed Wake Forest the game on a silver platter and gave them opportunity after opportunity to make this game a blowout but Wake Forest’s offense couldn’t capitalize. However they still managed to win 12 to 3: all scored on field goals. First Mississippi State loses and now Florida State loses. I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see if the New Orleans Saints can beat the Denver Broncos in Denver to salvage my sports weekend.

*SIGH* I am sorely disappointed in how the Mississippi State Bulldogs looked today against Georgia Tech. Frankly, the Dawgs looked pathetic on the field. Although they managed to move the ball between the 20s, once they got into the red zone they were stymied. That combined with 3 turnovers killed any legitimate chances MSU had to make this game competitive. The final score was 38-7 and MSU was lucky to get the sole touchdown.
Maybe Florida State will do well against Wake Forest tonight.

Comments Off on Those Darned Loans & The Hypocrisy Involved
On this date in 2004, I made my very first entry in this blog known as The World According To Carl. This blog was initially put together and set up as a present from my wife and at the time I really didn’t know how interested I would be in blogging. I think four years and over 1500 posts later, that question has been definitively answered. In those four years, my humble little blog has had almost 75,000 hits. Not much compared to the major blogs out there, but a nice number for something that is just an outlet for my creativity. So I’m going to pop the top of a nice bottle of Barq’s to celebrate. But before I do, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to visit The World According To Carl, looked around and maybe left a comment or two.
Oh…by the way…gifts won’t be refused.
