The Mississippi State Bulldogs got beat and beat badly in their home opener against LSU by a score of 45-0. On September 8, the Bulldogs head down to Louisiana to play Tulane which used to be an easy game but nowadays proves not to be that way. In my humble opinion Sylvester Croom hasn’t gotten the job done as head coach and has actually managed to make the football team worse. I don’t foresee any improvement this season and I feel Croom needs to be released and a new coach hired for next season. The sooner the better.

Well, my new job is taking up a lot of my time but that’s not the reason why blogging has been slow this week. It’s actually because nothing much has occurred to inspire me to create new enties. But be that as it may it’s one again Open Trackback Friday! This is your opportunity to share interesting blog entries from your blog by using this blog’s trackback feature. Many people, including myself enjoy reading a variety of material from other people’s blogs, so link your post to this one, send a trackback to it and it’ll appear in the comments section after I manually approve it. I still approve all comments & trackbacks manually due to spam bots so it won’t show up immediately, but I will get to it as soon as I can. I am still using myself as the ultimate spam filter but now have the aid of an excellent trackback filter. To obtain the trackback URL simply rightclick where it says “trackback” below and then click on “copy shortcut” to get it. That’s all there is to it! And thank you in advance for trackbacking to my blog. And while you’re here, please take some time to look at some articles I’ve posted. Maybe you’ll find something interesting. If you do, trackback to it as well.

In the latest addition to comic book based movies the film adaptation of DC’s Justice League comic book series could begin casting as early as next week. Warner Brothers is apparently fast-tracking the movie and rumors are flying that it could be made as a motion-capture CG-animation movie. Considering that this movie will feature several superheroes, it makes sense to use the computer-generation medium. That way you can hire just about any actor, voice-record them and synch it with the CG.
So with that in mind, let’s have a little fantasy casting call. Who would you cast in the voice roles of the various super heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc.? Leave your casting suggestions in the comments section.

This is a song that I’ve always enjoyed ever since I was a kid. This video edited by Joseph Fulton is very good but my only complaint is that this is a re-recording of the song done by Lightfoot and I prefer the original version.

According to the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of American Publishers, conservatives like myself don’t read books all that much. Now, just who specifically is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of American Publishers? Why none other than ultra-liberal former congresscritter Pat Schroeder! According to Schroeder, liberals read much more books than conservatives and according to her:
“The Karl Roves of the world have built a generation that just wants a couple slogans: ‘No, don’t raise my taxes, no new taxes,’” Pat Schroeder, president of the American Association of Publishers, said in a recent interview. “It’s pretty hard to write a book saying, ‘No new taxes, no new taxes, no new taxes’ on every page.”
What a bunch of bovine scat! Actually the poll to which Schroeder references doesn’t actually support her contention. But something like that never stopped a liberal extremist like Schroeder from bashing conservatives. Michelle Malkin has more details on this nonsense. Also NewsBusters questions the validity and accuracy of the poll in question. I wonder if any of the Democrat candidates will be foolish enough to use this to bash conservatives as Schroeder has done.
As for myself, I do read quite a bit and have done so ever since I was a little crumb cruncher. Currently the bulk of my reading is of a Christian nature with the occasional light science fiction thrown in. I may even go back and reread some of the Louis L’Amour westerns I originally read as a pre-teen. Maybe even some of the old Lester Dent pulp fiction. But none of that probably counts for much in Pat Schroeder’s world of simpleton conservatism.
A well read salutation to readers from Perri Nelson’s Website, MoreWhat, Rosemary’s Thoughts, third world county, Big Dog’s Weblog, Right Truth, Pirate’s Cove, Webloggin’, Planck’s Constant, The Pink Flamingo, The Amboy Times, The Bullwinkle Blog, Conservative Cat, Right Voices, Gone Hollywood, The Yankee Sailor, The Florida Masochist. Hurricane Dean satellite photo as of Friday, August 18, 2007 @ 8pm EDT
Hurricane Dean is now a solid category 4 storm with the potential of reaching category 5 before striking Jamaica. Forecasters are predicting its westward movement will continue with landfall most likely will be around the Mexico/Texas border. However it’s very early and their predictions may change depending upon how weather patterns affect the hurricane’s path.

It was just reported on Fox News that Billy Graham has been hospitalized with intestinal bleeding that physicians say is not life-threatening. However at his advanced age, anything could happen. Please keep Billy Graham in your prayers.

Hurricane Dean forecast tracking as of Friday, August 17, 2007 @ 11pm EDT
Hurricane Dean satellite photo as of Friday, August 17, 2007 @ 11pm EDT
The first hurricane of the season in the Atlantic and it’s already a monster. Hurricane Dean is now a category 4 storm and is headed in a westward direction at this time. Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has already issued a state of emergency although I feel she’s jumping the gun. But after Katrina, I am not surprised she’s being overly cautious. Blanco also asked federal officials for a Presidential Emergency Declaration to ensure federal assets are available to Louisiana in advance of a possible landfall. “These declarations are a necessary step that allows the state to move quickly if need be,” Blanco said. “I urge all citizens to be personally prepared, listen to your local officials and monitor your local media as this storm progresses. Please make sure your plans to get to safety should evacuation be in order. Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.” While most computer forecast models indicate Dean will eventually go ashore near the border of Mexico and Texas late Wednesday or early Thursday, the National Hurricane Center warned that it’s too soon to accurately predict what the storm will do when it hits the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday.

Well this is my last Friday as one without a fulltime job with benefits because a week from today will be the day I start my new job with the state of Florida. I’m still doing a mental “Snoopy dance” in response. And with that mental image firmly implanted in your subconscious, it’s Open Trackback Friday once again! Dreamland is an amusement park in Japan. Apparently it’s now closed. Judging from the photo essay about it, it’s no surprise. Just go look at the photo essay. It’s weird. It’s surreal. It’s bizzarre!

One of the scariest wrestlers I’ve ever seen on TV, The Missing Link, has passed on. Dewey Robertson wrestled as “The Missing Link” and I saw him on Mid-South Wrestling television shows. The guy was huge and crazy-looking which really got him over with the fans. Dewey Robertson died early this morning, a victim of cancer. He was 68. I offer my sincerest condolences to the friends and family of “The Missing Link,” Dewey Robertson. One of the Link’s former managers, Percy Pringle III pays a very heartfelt tribute to his close friend.

On August 8, 2006 I was unjustly fired from my job of almost 10 years. I was denied unemployment and could not afford COBRA to keep my family’s health insurance going. So for over a year I’ve been looking for a fulltime job with benefits. I’ve filled out well over 500 applications during that time and almost got a couple of jobs. Today I was offered a job with the state of Florida and I’ll be starting Friday, August 24th, 2007. The long wait is over, thanks be to God.
